I haven’t lived in the city I grew up in for many years now.
I think I left the year I graduated from high school and never looked back.
I come from a really tiny town in the middle of nowhere and their isn’t much opportunity to succeed. I went to college in another state and decided I would plant my roots in that city. I much prefer a city environment to a small hometown. However, I do still try and make it back home a couple of times a year to see my family. I could not imagine going more than six months without getting to visit with them. I don’t keep up with my friends from high school too much anymore, but I do run into them from time to time when I am back home. Last week I was back home visiting for the holidays when I ran into an old friend at the grocery store. We talked for a while about what we were both doing these days and he told me he had just opened up a HVAC company. He study heating and cooling systems at the local college and it had always been his dream to open up his own HVAC company. I was impressed and he told me that for just opening up the HVAC company was doing very well. I love hearing stories of my old friends from a small town doing big things and starting their own business. This is a great example of how you can succeed even in a small town!
