A home warranty is a really good idea to have in order to cover your HVAC system.
My dad used to always tell me to buy a home warranty whenever I bought my first house, but I thought that he didn’t know what he was talking about. I never really thought that a home warranty was really all that necessary. And honestly, I guess it’s not all that necessary until it actually is necessary! That’s what happened to us in our new house. Whenever we closed on our loan for the house we decided to forego the home warranty because we just did not think that we would need it. I guess that’s probably what all young, dumb people think. And that’s what I was, too. I was young and I was dumb. At this point, I know that I should have just listened to my dad when he told me to get the home warranty. That’s because before too long, we ended up having issues with our heating and cooling system in the house. The factory warranty on the HVAC system had already expired when all of the trouble started happening, and so we couldn’t use the factory warranty to get it fixed. If only we had had the home warranty, then it would have covered all of the HVAC repair expenses! Since we did not have one, we had to pay for all of the heating and cooling repairs completely out of pocket. Let me tell you, that was a hard lesson to learn, but I will never make that same mistake again.
