My fine friend and I were assigned to a base located on a tropical island.
The year round temperature was between 77 plus 69 degrees. Trade winds enable us to keep the windows open year round plus care about a nice relaxing breeze. My fine friend and I had no need of heat or a/c except on a scarce chance when the night time lows reached the lower 60s. This only happened maybe once or twice a year. On those occasions my pal and I were fortunate to have bought electric space heaters. These units could deliver enough heat to make this night comfortable enough for sleeping. My fine friend and I did have to keep them inspected just like a larger built in system. They still needed the filters changed plus an occasional repair. It was nice not to have the expense of a whole house system to care for. Living in the tropics is charming. The palm trees, beaches plus sunshine are honestly relaxing. Not having the day to day worry about your heat or a/c is an added bonus as well. My fine friend and I now live back in snow country where my pal and I are forced to endure long freezing winters. I can still dream of when my pal and I lived in the islands plus picture the warm sunny afternoons. For now, I can only hope to return someday. The reality of life is dealing with service plus service of our Heating plus A/C system to ensure our year round comfort. I am thankful for the experience my pal and I had plus the chop from reality it afforded us! Back to reality for now.
