I had ductwork that led to nowhere.

I had ductwork that led to nowhere.

When I moved into my new home, I made sure to have all my inspections done.

The HVAC inspection was the roughest part of the mall.

When the HVAC contractor came in, he went into every room and examined every part of the HVAC system he could access. He even pulled up the air vent covers to look inside. He called me into one of the smaller bedrooms, and showed me where he had pulled up the air vent cover. He shined the flashlight into the air vent, and told me to come over. Yet a small mirror inside, and all I could see was a blockage. I asked him why there was a blockage inside the air vent. He told me it was because it had been cut off. He traced it back to the age of the AC system, and said we had ductwork that was never connected to anything. We were going to have a difficult time heating and cooling our house the way our ductwork system was set up. He didn’t know if the previous owners were just installing the HVAC system because the furnace and air conditioning unit looked new, or if they didn’t know the ductwork was not complete. Anyway, when he looked at it, he assured us that if we wanted to properly heat and cool the entire house, we would need to have our ductwork finished. I immediately called the realtor and told her about the situation. She apologized for not letting us know this was an ongoing project for the previous owners. They had been putting ductwork into the house, whenever they could afford it.
