I have lived in the same state my entire life. It is in the southern part of the country and I love that the weather is warm all year round. Growing up I could not ever imagine that I would move away from this paradise that I call home. I love the year round summer weather and I don’t know if I would make it in a colder climate. Well that was put to the test when I was offered a job many states away. It was an amazing opportunity and I would have been a fool to turn it down. So I made the decision to move out of my summer paradise up to a colder northern state. I didn’t even own a proper winter jacket when I moved, but I knew that was going to have to change very soon. I had to buy all new winter clothes and a space heater for my new apartment. I didn’t realize that many of the apartment building in my new city didn’t have a central HVAC system. Most of the tenants had their own space heaters and window air conditioners. I was used to central air conditioning where I came from so this really was a shock to me. I also wasn’t prepared for how cold it truly got in the middle of the winter. I had only seen snow once before in my life. I have now lived in my new city for about a year now and I have really come a long way. I have started to appreciate buildings with a proper HVAC system more as I have to rely on my space heater to keep me warm.
