When my job moved to a new building I was hoping it would be an improvement but I should have known better.
The old building had shoddy plumbing and the paint was peeling off of the walls so I thought it couldn’t get any worse, boy was I mistaken.
The “new” building is definitely as step down. It only has one toilet for males and females, no break room and the HVAC system doesn’t work. At least in the old place we had adequate heat and A/C. After a few days of freezing, some of my coworkers brought in some space heaters. The office was so small that a space heater per room was more than enough to keep us warm. But then the electrical fuses started popping everytime someone plugged in a space heater. This would turn off all of the computers so management said no more space heaters. They better do something fast about the HVAC system then or I feel there will be a mutiny soon. We all come to work with our winter jackets and fingerless gloves on and we are still freezing. I’ve started bringing a blanket to work too. I get that the company needs to save money but it can’t be legal for them to make us work like this can it? I’ve already started looking for another job. I’ll take anything with similar pay and a working HVAC system. Since when is “heated work environment” a perk of a job. I always thought it was just to be expected for any office job.
