We always have amazing trips camping and fishing, but this time we were hit with a real curveball.
We always go white water rafting, fishing, snorkeling and whatever else we can do to beat the heat and kill time in the summer.
We love this old condo complex we stay at in the mountains, it’s secluded. There is an old pool, and an old cabin with very old appliances. There is a noisy heater, and an even noisier air conditioner. The ancient structure, maybe a hundred or two years old was very good to us and kept us cool in the summer after long hiking days. We have memories of great parties here in both the winter and the hot summer. I didn’t know much about heaters or HVAC units, but I knew that fixing them both took time and tools. About three days into our trip it came clear to us that the air conditioner just would not turn back on. It was the middle of the summer and we had to do something, or else we would be forced to sleep outside by the water. We didn’t bring any fans and it was still around 90 degrees each night. Three days later after calling a few companies we got the air conditioner fixed, and I started always bringing a fan with me. We had sun lotion, towels, water and everything else but we just did not expect the appliances to break. Looking back, they were so old and noisy that we should have known the heating and cooling units wouldn’t last.
