I’m a high school teacher and I’ve been getting ready for the new school year.
It’s been a rush to try and make my classroom look as presentable and as inviting as possible.
This, along with needing so much time for lesson planning of the first couple weeks and sitting through meetings to acquaint everyone with the rules and procedures and the schedule for the year, has kept me constantly busy. When I get a chance to sit at my desk and plan, I’m very appreciative of the new window air conditioning units that were installed over the summer. These models seem to be far more powerful and effective than the old ones. The old air conditioning units were always on the fritz for some reason or another. They would drip condensation on the floor. They never seemed to be powerful enough to cool the entire room. The clean filter light would be on all the time despite the fact that the filter was cleaned regularly. They just seemed to be a mess. I wasn’t even expecting them to be upgraded, but I was certainly very happy when they were. Even though I set the same temperature on the thermostat as I did with the old ones, now it actually feels like my desired temperature is reached! The air conditioner is actually on the opposite side of the room from my desk, and yet I feel very comfortable, which was not the case with the old ones. I guess it’s the little things that you need to appreciate at a small school like ours.
